What is a Belt Conveyor?
Conveyor belts have tremendous usage in industries since its invention but now its application has greatly increased. Initially, belt conveyors were used in mines and rail yards to convey the heavy loads over short distances only but the usage of conveyors has greatly sped up the production at more faster rate and even reduced the cost. It really revolutionized the manufacturing process. And with the passage of time, technology evolved so the conveyor belts.
Modern technology has brought more precision and speed with it and in today's time it's demand is huge by the markets of cars or other manufactures as the modern belts work more effectively and efficiently. In recent times, specialized machines are being used in the markets for the work of assembly line. For the efficient produce, a huge amount of logistical adaptability and coordination is required. Most of the automobile industries are so versatile that in very less time they can switch manufacturing different product. We can clearly say that the conveyor belts have become an integral part of any manufacturing industry.
Previously, conveyor belts were only used for the transportation of materials from one place to another. Traditionally, these belts were made from laminated rubber while modern conveyor belts are being made from homogeneously molded rubber compounds and that's why these belts are more durable and long-lasting besides that these belts are cost-effective. These belts tremendously reduce the dependence on physical labor. These rubber compounds provide features to conveyor belts like oil resistance, flame resistance and also increased the conductivity so that the belts conveyor can work in diverse and different manufacturing conditions. Also, the load capacity of modern conveyor belts has increased because of the presence of innovative cleat design or flexible sidewalls. Even the modern conveyors can sense the position of the goods resting on the conveyor belts and also able to suitably align and rotate the goods for the processing as well as shipping purposes. On of the main feature of these belts is that they can also electronically identify the products and then divert them at another location without human awareness.
Now, Conveyor belts are used in mining, recycling process, food-processing, agriculture, pharmaceutical and many other manufacturing industries because of their simplicity and versatility. Conveyor belts have really made a valuable position in the bulk manufacturing industries due to its versatility.
